Junior Team Tennis 2011

June 27th–August 19th, 2011

The Junior Tennis Program will run for EIGHT weeks again this summer on our four private courts at the Fisher Family Tennis Center. We are proud to have Steve Queenan back as our head tennis professional. Steve is a former collegiate player and a current 4.5 USTA player. He has been a high school coach for over 10 years and led Westborough High to the state finals in 2000 and 2001. He is a certified USTA instructor and has participated in their Advanced Coaches Clinics, most recently in the “quick start” clinic for children under age 10. As a former camper and tennis participant, Steve has in-depth knowledge of the Colony Club tennis program. In fact, he was the first ever Tiny Gregg Tournament winner!

The Junior Tennis program offers these programs for all ages and skill levels (Click here to check the SBCC Junior Tennis web site for practice schedules, match schedules and fees. Daily guest fees are available):

    * Team Tennis for ages 9 to 16 years, or younger, at the Pro's discretion (for players who can serve from the baseline and return serve). Includes intra-club practice two days per week and weekly match play against other nearby clubs. The team is split into three two groups, the “A Team” and the “B Team”, based on ability at the Pro’s discretion, and the “Tournament Tennis” of high school aged players designed to prepare the most advanced and older junior team players who wish to play local, full match-play tournaments during the summer months, in addition to team tennis. Weekly matches are typically played on Friday afternoons at 1pm.

    * Pee Wee Hopefuls for ages 4 to 6, or younger, at the Pro’s discretion. An age-appropriate introduction to the game of tennis. Players in this toddler clinic learn the fundamental motor skills of the game, leading up to basic techniques.

    * Special Events include the Pizza Party season opener, scheduled for Monday, June 27th and the Tiny Gregg tennis tournament, scheduled on August 16th and 18th.

    * Private lessons are available by contacting Steve Queenan directly (508-888-2827). Rates are $40/hour for either private or semi-private lessons. As a reminder, Steve is the only tennis pro authorized to use the Club’s tennis courts for tennis lessons.

Click here for the program fees posted on the SBCC Junior Tennis web site. Weekly rates are in effect regardless of attendance, unless previously arranged with the Parent Coordinator. Program registration is online. Click here to go directly to Online Registration.
